Artburn Studio was established as a means to present my art to whomever would like to know what it is I’ve done with some of my spare time all these years. I now do art purely for the pleasure of discovery and the simple joy of creating. Everything here is what has piled up in my flat files over the years. Some good, some not so good. Even the failures have some value. It’s good to look back on this stuff and see what works for me and what doesn’t while keeping in mind that nothing is permanent or to precious to destroy (burn). It all helps to shape the next work.
For the last four to five years, I’ve hosted an annual Art Burn/Beer Tasting event, inviting anyone who creates to bring a piece of their work that they feel came up short and burn it to make room for something new. Some even create work to burn. Ritual is good for acknowledging presence in the moment or at least a damn good excuse for getting together with friends and drinking some beer.
